Trail riders van seized by police.

Post  rikidooos on Wed Aug 25, 2010 7:03 pm

A trail rider on Sunday had his van impounded by Guisbrough police as a local householder noticed off road bikes leaving the van. When the trail rider rang the police to say his van had been stolen the police informed him they had seized the van as he was riding an illegal motorcycle. Although it was fully legal.

Anyway to cut a very long story short the police impounded his van on the grounds it was not a named vehicle on a motor trade insurance policy although it was his works van.

So if you are using a motor traders insurance policy on a vehicle be careful where you park.

Jeez, this is so petty of the police and the person who reported the van.

We had a similar situation when we parked a van at Snainton down a residential street. Luckily the copper knew the company name on my mate's van and rang us first.

It's great if the public / police act against illegal riders, but both assume the worst before finding out the facts.

    rant over

    cheers
