New member - soon to be in Leyburn

Post  bfgjohno on Tue Nov 12, 2013 9:39 am

    Hi,

I'm a TRF member and due back in Yorkshire after 3 years in Kenya in February and am settling near Leyburn. I've a '89 XT600 Tenere in the UK and "I'm not afraid to use it"! Using WR250R out here - excellent bike.
I've got hold of the 1:50,000 and 1:25,000 maps for Leyburn/Wensleydale/Swaledale and have had a look at them. Struggling to see any legal routes but I know they're out there. Really keen to plan ahead for my return and get cheer myself up returning from this fantastic off road location to Yorkshire. Would anyone be able to help me marking them up??

All the best and see you in February!

Your maps will show the lanes we use as red dots on the 1:50. These are UCR's and hold vehicular rights you will need to check non of the lanes are closed.

Thanks so much - suddenly more routes appear!
I see that some red dots cross countrywide with no underlying black markings to indicate paths or tracks. I assume I forget these?
If red dotted rites terminate at a house and then a track marked as a bridleway continue, the latter is definitely out of bounds?
Can't see anything on the hills above reeth but gather there are some routes there?
    All the best john

No these are still UCR and unless they have a TRO they normally carry vehicular rights.

Only the UCR is legal. Bridal ways and footpaths are definitely not legal to ride.

There are only a few legal lanes above Reeth. Fremington edge is worth a trip up.
