    Hi from Cleveland Police Bikes

Post  CLeveland Police Bikes on Sat Jan 26, 2013 5:31 pm

    Hello to all members,

For thosse that dont know who or what we do, we are a team of 6 PC's and 1 Sgt.
We are based at The Roads Policing Unit, Wynyard Park, Billingham.

Our bike line up consists of 7 BMW 1200RTP, 1 Yamaha FJR1300 road bikes and 4 Honda CRF 450's.

Our day to day duties include Hazchem checks on road tankers and other vehicles that carry Hazardous products, partnership work with VOSA, doing roadside checks, VIP escorts for the likes of MP's to any memeber of the Royal family, football coach escorts.

We are all passionate about on road and off road bikes, one of our team likes to think he is the worlds best speedway rider, but he is old and grumpy so we leave him to dream.

Our role which has an impact on Offroad riding is to patrol the Cleveland and somtimes the Durham area as we are in collaboration with Durham Police.

Partnership work with local authorities, Buisnessses and clubs, like the TRF is the best solution to dealing with antisocial behaviour.

We did try to attend the last monthly meeting at the Ranch house, but the weather changed work commitments so were unable to attend. We will pop up to see everyone at one of the meetings in the comming months.

If anyone would like to contact us i will post our email address once we have been registered on here for 7 days, alternatively any of the below.
    You can follow us on
    Twitter - @clevepol_bikes
Facebook - Cleveland Police Bike Section

For those that know about Ridewell, you can also follow that
    Twitter - @Ridewell2013
    Facebook - Ridewell

Ridewell is back on this year following a busy year with the Olympics that we were involved in. Ridewell wil be on Sunday 11th August 2013 aat Preston Park, Stockton.

    Hope to see you soon.

PS. we are human and are nice people....really!

Welcome to our forum, hope some of you can get to a meeting, or on a ride out with us soon.

I personaly think any contact and better understanding and cooperation beteen us, must be a good thing.

As well as being a member of Teesside & North Yorks group, I am also a member of the West Yorks group, and two police officers from the Leeds off road motorcycle division made a similar approach that you guys are doing.

Although a few members were at first scepticle and suspicious about the motives of the officers, after coming to a meeting and joining us on rides, they are now accepted as like minded guys who enjoy their motorcycling, and are just like any other club member.

They are now better informed as to what the TRF is all about, and able to advise riders caught riding illegaly, that if they join the TRF they will be shown where they can ride, and are less likely to get in trouble again.

Hope things work out, and we meet soon.

    Rod Jackson

PS this is not a very active forum, so please don't think your being ignored by lack of response.

    Thanks Rod,

Its one of the things we want to do is have a ride out and like you say we are here to help and offer advice, we know how it is for your members, the minority spoil it for the majority.

When we are out on patrol, the reactions we get from members of the public is interesting, especially when they realise we are the Police riding along country lanes.

We will make it along to the next meeting.

As Rod say's the forum is not very active but a lot of people do read it.
It would be good to hear from the police at a TRF meeting.

    Welcome to the forum,

I have had nothing but positive discussions with Police on the lanes, (apart from one poor sod who had no idea about the laws and tried to give us a ASBO! ), I'd like to see more of you guys out there keeping the antisocial riders off the lanes and advising walkers of the vehicular rights on green lanes.

Hope to see you out there

As other members have said, welcome to the TRF forum - look forward to meeting you at the Ranch House.

Do you ride in the Dales? If not, could you help your colleagues similarly get in touch with the TRF so we can all help to promote legal off-road riding and keep green lanes open.

    Cheers,
