This E-mail has been sent via the TRF Database and contains important information for you as a member. Please read and respond as requested.

Sent on behalf of Peter Thorp - Manchester TRF

The following has been posted on the national forum but I am aware that some groups rarely use the national forum and as such I’ve asked Debbie to forward the posting to all group contacts.

What we are asking for is that this request is passed on to as many people as possible and that the members of the Audit and Resources Committee are inundated with e-mails, if only half our membership reacted in this way they would have over 1500 e-mails to deal with. Please get as many members of your group to send off questions only at this stage, as comments will be ignored. When we actually get to the consultation stage then we need every member to respond and then get 2 friends who are not members to also respond that would mean we have almost 10,000 responses which they will have to go through.

I have listed below some of the questions we are raising with the Audit and Resources Committee members, try and re-phrase the questions slightly or think up your own question, but what we want to do is get ourselves noticed which is what the antis have been doing.

Also add a note to the effect this is a question not a comment and is therefore not part of the consultation process.

What we would like you to do is copy the original post onto your forum without the questions below and send the original post with the questions out by e-mail to members you know personally.

If we are to be successful then this needs action from everybody, whether or not you ride in the Peak District as your area could be next.

Can you please confirm whether or not you are or every have been a member of and organisation or pressure group whose interested have been related to the Peak District National Park or any other National Parks.

Part of the National Park Management Plan states “Accessible and diverse recreational opportunities will be available for all..”
How do you reconcile this statement with the plan to exclude a small number of users by banning then from using a legitimate road network?

Part of the National Park Delivery Plan states “Improve recreational opportunities for all, encouraging a sense of adventure..”
How do you reconcile this statement with the plan to exclude a small number of users by banning then from using a legitimate road network?

Part of the National Park Delivery Plan states “Have an integrated, well managed and inclusive rights of way and access network which encourages responsible enjoyment by all.”
How do you reconcile this statement with the plan to exclude a small number of users by banning then from using a legitimate road network?

What is your understanding of the terms Amenity and Natural Beauty as used at the Audit, Resources and Performance Committee meeting on 20th July 2012?

Did you attend the site visit to Longcauseway prior to the Audit, Resources and Performance Committee meeting on 20th July 2012?
What if any was the loss of Amenity and Natural Beauty noticed in any encounters with MPV during your site visit?

Did you attend the site visit to Roych Clough prior to the Audit, Resources and Performance Committee meeting on 20th July 2012?
What if any was the loss of Amenity and Natural Beauty noticed in any encounters with MPV during your site visit?

    Original Posting is below.

As many of you will know the PDNPA are planning to consult on the subject of closing initially 2 lanes within the Peak District.
Mike Irving is organising activity within the PDNPA to bring attention which many of our members will be supporting.

For those of you who are unable to join in the planned day of action there is something else you can do from the comfort of your computer, and that is write to the various people who can influence decisions.

Prior to the formal consultation process e-mail questions (not comments) to the members of the Audit and Resources Committee and the officers of the PDNPA, e-mail addresses will be listed below.
Write to the Secretary of State responsible for National Parks, Caroline Spelman
Write to the Under-Secretary of State who leads on National Parks, Richard Benyon
    Write to your own MP

As the saying goes there is more than one way to skin a cat so every route of action can help.
If you can think of any other ways that we can get the PDNPA to see reason please put your ideas here.

Just remember that there are 15 National Parks, of which the remainder of the 13 in England and Wales could, if the current proposals are not stopped, follow in the footstep of what has already happened in Yorkshire and is now happening in the Peak District.

“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men (and women) do nothing”

Members of PDNPA Audit, Resources and Performance Committee.
