    Any reasons ?

It's not one I have used, but looking at the map it appears to
be a 'farm track' type of lane, unlikely to be damaged by bikes.

    4X4's ?

Post  craig orange on Sun Mar 11, 2012 5:34 pm

Rode this bit not that long ago and it was fine, apart from some nicely concealed wire to wrap around!!
There have always been deep ruts at bottom but they are heavily grassed over and therefore 'historical'. I can only assume the 4X4 brigade have moved from Harwood Dale forest and Troutsdale Brow Plantation now that those routes are well and truly buggered !!!
Bitter ?, Twisted ? You bet !! sick of such a mess being left by that lot Mad

Nope they were there in Harwood Dale two weeks ago.

We watched and filmed them for a while, and you start to get a bit of empathy with them (out for a challenge, getting stuck, getting out, day out with your mates etc) but then you see the bumper sticker...

    " How's my driving.. dial 0800 F*ck Off"

Nice. made my blood boil, but there were about seven vehicles, too many to start an arguement, but they left the lane totally un-rideable, so we had to divert.

The TRO'd lane is VERY soft. Even in the summer bikes cause big ruts.

The 4x4's were at Washebck ford yesterday making a good mess playing with the winch. There was an old XT with them as well.

They do a good job at destroying the few trails we have. Mad

    18 months

Post  craig orange on Sat Mar 17, 2012 10:16 pm

Cheers for the pics rickidoos, Hate to point this one out though .... it looks like an 18 month TRO from the dates shown on the notice, That's a hell of a long 'recovery time !! I rode this lane back in November and there was work taking place then with stone being laid in the gateway. It looks like someone has run a blade up the lane to remove the ruts. I'd love to know if the lane was damaged and if so how as i've ridden it quite a bit over the last couple of years and it was always heavily grassed with ruts.

    Drove Cockrah yesterday

Post  DieselDougie on Sun Dec 08, 2013 8:31 pm

Drove down Cockrah yesterday ...first time in a year or two. It is much better and has improved without the use of vehicles.. ...there are still the irritating ground level tubes placed by the land owner to prevent 4x4 but easy enough to hop over with a bike. I would encourage anybody to do it down hill, also probably a good idea to free wheel from the gate until beyond the house they seem a bit sensitive to our presence The lower lane surface does appear to be soft and easily damaged. It could do with some drainage run offs.
