    Kirkby Bank

Post  Miff on Sun Jan 01, 2012 8:55 pm

just to let you all know that the bank is REALLY slippery now as the top surface has washed away down to the rock (as it used to be before it was re-graded) so be careful. I have a vid of two of our team slipping and sliding for a good 20 mins, lol.

On a second note, there is a sign asking riders NOT to ride on the stones from the camp to the foot of the bank, I thought this was the route and less likely to cause damage. Is the correct route alongside the stones, or in the field ?

    cheers

Video please that sounds like fun to watch! Laughing

The sign is correct don't ride on the stones. They are sight of national heritage and were cleaned up recently (2009).

The trod will of been at the side of the road the road. A don't think a horse and cart would of walked up them. I would ride up the field where everyone has been riding as no complaints have been made against us doing that, although that is possibly totally the wrong thing to do.
Note the above is my opinion and probably totally inaccurate Rolling Eyes

Take a look at this editorial about the trod repair:

Ever wondered what would happen if your bike drops of the edge of the trail? Take a look at this.
