    Moors Access

Post  petergj on Thu Sep 29, 2011 11:04 pm

We were out on the Moors last Sunday and a couple of comments :-

    - farmer has kindly ploughed the field at the eastern end of the trail which runs through the Mill at Scaling. There is now a narrow track around the outside of the field.

    - the owner at Low Garth, who we are in dispute with over the bridge in his garden, was out when we arrived. We crossed the bridge but the lower half of the trail up the hillside is virtually impassible due to mud. Top half past the gate is OK. People may want to consider going downhill only.

    - can someone please confirm - is there a legal route through Hall Farm in Westerdale? We were stopped by the lady of the house who said there was no access but the farmer at Hawthorn House said there was access.

    Any comments appreciated.

    Cheers,

Hall farm is a ucr but only recently has appeared on the map. Last year I think.
So I presume that you are the first bike the land owner has seen using the ucr.

At scaling it's best to go around the edge of the field. Cutting straight across fields doesn't go down well with farmers.
