It is a nice place as I used to ride there years ago from Highfield Farm across to Hillilees and then to Moor House when the fields were stubble.

Mr Bainbridge at Moor house will argue that the right of way is not legal as I have inquired before. Best try a friendly wave!

Looking at the map it could be a good loop to ride from Yarm.

We used to drive down to the river to go swimming. The ford was obvious. - Correction We used a track before Aisalby Grange so this will defo need a closer look.

If you look on Google Earth the Newsham Grange side of the river [that side of river not in NYCC area, the black line running along river is the boundary] the track is ploughed out with crop in field.

    the visit

    Post  ianttr250 on Sun Aug 14, 2011 5:12 pm

i have been today and met the owner of newsham grange. nice man , he said there was a road down to the river and there is a ford .but because of the barrage the ford became unusable .i walked down to look and sure enough it was at least 10 feet deep .the next lane at viewley hill farm.i spoke to the farmers son who had a ts 185 suzuki.he or his dad didn't know about the lane .the council had been last month to check out the foot path sign and spoke to them about rights of way but did not say anything about a road.if we would like to ride it he will make sure the gates are open yet again no negative waves.i did take some photos but do not under stand how to up load them.i have really enjoyed to day chatting to these folk and exploring the lanes pity about the river crossing because this has scuppered a good route. as a foot note to this little adventure the two conversations did surface concerns of theft from the properties, but no concerns about us enjoying what we do.

So if we can somehow get rid of the barrage we would have a cracking route! It's good to hear that the land owners were friendly. Obote can be uploaded via the forum. Copy the middle image code it gives you and paste it as a forum post.
