    Ride reports > videos (soon)

Post  Miff on Tue Jan 18, 2011 8:01 pm

Well, we have got a couple of short rides in since Christmas, but I never remember to take any photos, so, inspired by Rickydoo's excellent videos, I have ordered a video camera off fleabay.

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Poseidon-Waterproof-720P-HD-Sports-Action-Camera-/110628459920?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_Video_Camcorders&hash=item19c1f85590

I managed to contact a previous buyer who said he was happy with it and posted a video on youtube for me to view. It looks good.

I'll post some vids as soon as it comes !

Wow that looks posh with a remote!
It will pay for it's self in no time when you send your video's into you been framed!

Cheers, I'm hoping the remote will extend the battery and recording time by just switching on at the start of each lane (no boring road sections)

I wish I had it fitted last Sunday, the water at Kirkbymoorside was DEEP. (but no drowning)

Got the camera mounted on the skid lid.

I'm leading some EYTRF lads to Stokesly on Sunday, so I'm hoping to get some vids.

I'll get 'em uploaded to youtube or whatever if they are any good

Hmmmm, do I detect some political rumblings?

As it was they decided to do the driffield lane due to some lame excuse about a imminent birth or something. (thought that was woman's work !)

Had a great ride out from Malton round the Scugdale / Kirkby bank loop with some freeloading Malton lads and Phil from Market Weighton. It was a bit much for one CCM 604 rider (no sh*t!)

Got some good footage from the new camera (will YouTube it later).

Mark, if you fancy a numpty run over the moors in two weeks you'll be welcome to join us

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eMU2aOqj_c - Scugdale

    I got one of these

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Poseidon-Waterproof-720P-HD-Sports-Action-Camera-/110628459920?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_Video_Camcorders&hash=item19c1f85590

Seems ok so far, 720 hi Def, @ 30fps, battery lasted 3 hours on standby & 2hrs recording, so I have bought a second one for £6. should be about 4 hours of recording on a 16GB SD card (about £12)

the remote control is really good 'cos you can just record the lanes and put it on standby on the road

    Hope this helps

How are you getting on with it? Are there any problems with it?

I might get one purchased what is the part number for the spare batteries (have you get a link?)

Well, I was chuffed 'till i saw this link on the main TRF forum.

    http://www.trf.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=3819&start=20

    Problems with mine:

Feels a bit flimsy, but has been OK all day in the rain.

Size is about the same as a toilet roll inner cardboard.

Spare Ebay battery (fake?) only lasts about 1 1/2 hrs compared to the original's 4 hours, it's a standard camcorder battery (NP-120 Battery for Fuji, RICOH, Pentax), so maybe I should have spent more.

Low light is a bit of an issue, tho' the forrestry looked OK.

I got stung for £6 inport tax, others may be more lucky.

It records in 5 minute chenks, so you have to 'stitch' the vids back together, I have some freeware to do this.

Generally I'm pleased with it and it's great to come home with some good footage when you're leading people. (Especially noobs, lol)

Miff, great set of videos - these are Scarborough Woods right? Where did you enter (first video) and exit (last video) the woods? Schools Hill Farm? Castlebeck Farm? Thanks,

    Cheers Peter,

I'm trying to edit the entry and exit points out of the videos at the moment, you never know who's watching ;0)
